Can the 5:2 diet lead to a longer life?



      I want to introduce you the article «Can the 5:2 diet lead to a longer life?» which was published by Tom Chivers. This article I found on the Telegraph website. The author tells us that now health problems most likely to occur because of the abundance of food, rather than from hunger. Today, food is varied and accessible to everyone, many people lead sedentary lifestyles and suffer from problems with obesity. There are lots of diets, they have different specifics, but not all diets are good for our health, and some of them are even dangerous. In particular, this article focuses on diet 5:2, in which people are allowed to eat normally for five days a week, but in the other two days people are severely limited in the consumption of calories. The author, relying on research, believes that the 5: 2 and other diets have a positive effect on our health, as many health problems arise due to obesity, and diet help a person to stay in good physical shape.
   
      I treat with caution to all diet. Many people are on a diet because of their health, and some people exhaust themselves hunger because they are dissatisfied with their figure, this is especially true for girls. They choose for themselves a diet that they like, but I think it's wrong. Everyone is different and I believe that the diet should be adjusted according to the individual characteristics of a person. In my opinion, you can not choose your own diet. If you want to do this, you should consult with a nutritionist who will select for you the proper diet. I agree that we should consume a certain amount of calories per day. If a person do not overeat, he will not have problems with excess weight and his health will be in order. And if a man do not have problems with health, he will live longer.

  1. I find this article very interesting and useful because many people don't know what to do with their weight, but they understand that keeping to a diet can destroy their health and even make it worse. But thanks to a diet "5:2" there is a chance to start new life with new body you want.
    1) I can't say exactly if a diet "5:2" is useful for health or not. First of all, Naveed Sattar, a professor of metabolic medicine at the University of Glasgow, is cautiously in favour. He says that if you want to lose weight this diet is perfect to you. But it doesn’t have 10-year studies behind it. So we don't know if there are some disadvantages at this diet. But it’s about reducing calorie intake, and anything that does that, by and large, is a good move. So yes, I think this diet is useful for health.
    2) I agree with Anna. Diet is such a step, which I would never have dared. Even on a diet of 5:2. It can be harmful to health or completely destroy it. I've heard that when people break diets and eat more they gain weight again. So I don't trust diets and don't think they can help to solve the problem of weight without hurting health.
    3) I have never kept to any diet and I will never do it. If I want to improve my figure I will go to a gym.

  2. Pretty interesting article, I like to learn something new about the human body and how it is better to develop and act to maintain health.
    I think that the position of the author has been transferred correctly and fully reflected the essence of the article.

    1.So I was curious to know about this diet and I found I did quite harmless. Think about it, it's really a problem of our time that we do not gather food , but to choose from plenty the useful and harmless for our body.
    2.Diet is a lifestyle, in other words, you're either his right or refuse and protest against its rules at all.
    3. Also I am trying to stick to a healthy diet and eating. This does not mean that I severely restricts itself in food consumption, namely look after what I eat.

  3. It is very interesting idea. People in different countries have different ideas about what is good to eat and what is the best diet for them. I guess that the main and the most abundant meal of the day is diner. I agree with Anna that Many people are on a diet because of their health, and some people exhaust themselves hunger because they are dissatisfied with their figure, this is especially true for girls.In the end I should mention that we always should remember that we eat to live but not live to eat.

  4. Absolutely useless diet,I think. Because diet-it's not way of your nutrition for a certain period of time, it's your stile of life. If person used to overeat, these 5 day he'll keep such way of nutrition,and in the other two days his limitation in the consumption of calories is absolutely useless. If you want to be healthy and have pretty figure, you should stick to healthy eating every day and not in certain days.
    I have never kept any diet, because I try to keep correct way of nutrition.

  5. I think that it is the very interesting article. Indeed, nowadays, there is the abundance of food and some people can't control themselves in eating. They do not know when to stop. The diet can help them.
    1) I think that the usefulness of the diet 5:2 for health depends on how people follow it. I consider that it is a wrong diet for people who can not control themselves. They eat all what they want five days and can overeat, and only during two days they are limited in the consumption of calories. They can score a lot of calories, and two days are not enough to bring his body back in order. In such case, this diet can not help. I also think that it can help people who really can control themselves in eating during the whole week.
    2) In my opinion, diets really can help to be healthy. If a person want to solve the problem with an excess weight, it is necessary to consult with a nutritionist, who can help to choose the diet which is suitable for him.
    3) I have never kept to a diet, I try not to eat a lot and it helps me to keep myself in shape.
